Service Description

***Jessica will be going on maternity leave in June 2024 and is not currently taking new patients. Please email admin@ellipsehealth.com.au with some details about your health goals and medical history so our Practice Manager can recommend the best-fit dietitian for you.*** Dr Jessica Turton is an Accredited Practising Dietitian, the Director of Ellipse Health, and holds a PhD in nutrition awarded by the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. Her thesis formally investigated the role of low-carbohydrate diets in the management of diabetes. In 2021 she collaborated with the CSIRO and conducted an Australia-wide clinical trial to investigate the safety and effect(s) of a low-carbohydrate dietary intervention for adults with type 1 diabetes. Over the years, Jessica has been mentored by some of the most respected academics, specialists, and lifestyle medicine physicians in their fields, including Prof Grant Brinkworth, Prof Kieron Rooney, Dr Pran Yoganathan, and Dr David Lim. She has been a guest on numerous podcasts and has participated at many national and international conferences as an invited speaker, including the American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions, Low Carb USA, and Low Carb Down Under. Dr Turton has over seven years of clinical experience consulting with thousands of patients via both online and in-person communication. Jessica prides herself on helping individuals lose weight and regain control of their health by eating MORE food, not less. She has a special interest in the role of nutrition in various clinical populations, including diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2), overweight and obesity, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and disordered eating. The initial consultation is 60 minutes and will be delivered via Zoom video. Jessica uses this opportunity to learn all about you and your health history to understand the bigger picture. She will collect information on your medical history, medications, social circumstances, recent blood work, anthropometry (body weight, blood pressure), clinical signs and symptoms of nutrient deficiency/excess, full diet history, current eating patterns, and your supplement regimen. Jessica uses every piece of information you provide in this initial assessment to identify your top nutritional priorities. Based on these, Jessica will develop a targeted diet and supplement plan which includes the provision of nutrition-related education and practical dietary strategies.
